Ye Have Done it Unto Me

Ye Have Done it Unto Me

“And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.” Matthew 25:40.

Ask any born-again believer, and they can readily tell anyone the greatest two commandments found in Word of God. It may not be verbatim, but it is instilled in the heart. The first references our love for God and the second our love for our fellowman. My friends, actions speak louder than words.

Even-so, applying these two commandments in our day to day walk is another matter. How we treat our neighbor has a direct relationship in how we honor, reverence and worship God. Matthew 25: 40 states “And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.”

Our service to others has eternal consequences. Matthew chapter twenty-five give several parables of the saved opposed to the unsaved, and it ends with the account of the sheep and the goats. The King of Glory- the Lord God Almighty, will separate those who genuinely love Him, and those who do not. “And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.” Matthew 25:33.

A question arose in Jesus’ parable of the sheep and the goats, exactly who where those who set on the King’s right hand? They desperately wanted to know and Jesus gave the answer. “Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto theeAnd?  And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.”Matthew 25:37-40.

His answer was simply, what they had done to others was also done unto Him. Unfortunately, those who neglected to administer unto the least of God’s people…received dire consequences. All those who reject Jesus, the Lord God Almighty, will ultimately receive eternal damnation.

It is often said that when we go into Church, we come together to worship the Lord, but when we leave out It is to serve. All that we have learned and heard inside, should be applied on the outside; our talk has to align with our walk. If we praise God and sing to the top of our voices inside the sanctuary on Sundays, and yet overlook the needs and concerns of others everyday, we are missing the mark!

The cost of discipleship is aselfless service. Jesus is our greatest example“Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.” John 13:14-15. It is impossible to love God and then refuse to meet the needs of others, such that you are able.

What will you do today to show your love for God and serve others? Strive to be a blessing and allow His amazing grace to extend from you to others. God blesses us to be a blessing…let us seriously meditate on these words today, “Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.” Matthew 25:40b.

God blessings and peace be with us all.
