A Night Like None Other

A Night Like None Other

“And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord” Luke 2:10-11.

It’s Christmas Eve all over the world, a time when all born-again believers continue to give glory, honor, and praise to God for the gift of our dear Savior’s birth. On that night, a child was born in Bethlehem, unlike any other; in fact, He’s Wholly Other. He is the King of kings, the only Potentate. He thought it not robbery to give up His glory in Heaven and lovingly bring salvation down to this sinful world! “And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord” Luke 2:10-11.

It was an immaculate, intentional gift of grace. It redeemed man from the bondage of sin and brought him back to God. “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:”

Sin’s deception took its toll in the Garden of Eden, separating us from God. But God triumphs, my friends. He prepared for Himself a body, fully human and fully divine. Jesus, the Messiah, the Anointed One, came as promised. He was a babe placed in a feeding trough, a manger, in a lowly estate. This signifies that His love reaches and saves us from our brokenness to the utmost. It crosses all social, financial, or cultural boundaries! “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life: John 3:16.”

So, you can only imagine the scene on that Holy Night, as the angel announced with praise, glory, and honor to God, the birth of our Savior to the shepherds: “And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.” Luke 2:9-10. Fear and Awe struck those shepherds’ hearts at the same time. It was a Night like none other!

Jesus Christ, God’s only Begotten Son, Mary’s baby, was born on that night. The prophet Isaiah announced His birth seven hundred years before the scene in Bethlehem. That prolific prophecy tells it all: “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6. Hallelujah!

My friends, it was truly a night like no other. Jesus’ birth, heralded by the angel, brought joy to the world and peace on earth. He is the way to eternal life!  Are you praising God for the gift that keeps on giving-the One who came to die on Calvary’s cross and got up on that third day morning with all power in His Hands? It is the only gift that matters! “Jesus saith unto him, I am the waythe truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” John 14:6.

Jesus lives and reigns forever! “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men!” Luke 2:14.
