Live in Me, Jesus!
“My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.” (KJV 1 John 3:18.)
It is true that what the world needs is love. However, the longer we live, the more we see that people are more concerned with getting for me, my, and mine. Those who live with this mentality have no idea what love in action means. But those of us who know whose we are know that love comes from God, and because He lives within us, we must serve others through love. “Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.” (KJV 1 John 4:11.)
Do you realize that you may be the only example of Jesus this present generation sees? So, it is with a sincere heart that we must humbly allow Jesus to live in and through us, empowering us to love sacrificially. Living in such a way that we’re ready and willing to lift a fallen sister or brother, help meet a need, or be a listening ear to comfort a hurting soul. “Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.: (KJV I Thessalonians 5:11.)
We are called to be the hands, feet, voices, and hearts that help others in this world. The real question is, are we ready to make a difference and use the chances God gives us? “My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.” (KJV 1 John 3:18.)
The only way for Jesus to have His way in our lives is for us to let go and give Him full control. Only through the Holy Spirit’s power can we truly love each other. The Bible encourages us with these words: “If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies, Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.” (KJV Philippians 2:1-2.)
My friends, let us love not only in word but also in deed. (KJV Colossians 3:16 )says: “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.” The Word of God, which guides and teaches us how to love, should not be treated like an occasional visitor, but as a permanent resident in our hearts.
Yes, what the world needs is love. Let’s be the “new man” that Christ has created us to be; lend someone a helping hand by being the eyes and hands of Jesus every day, seeking to show and express love to all we encounter along the way. Live in me, Jesus…have your way!
God’s blessings and peace to all.
