“I Have Answered thy Prayer”
Turn again, and tell Hezekiah, the captain of my people, Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will heal thee: on the third day thou shalt go up unto the house of the LORD.” 1 Kings 20:5.
God hears the cries of his children. Prayer is one of the most valuable resources that we possess. It gives us direct communication with God. Through prayer, we find strength, courage, and hope for every tomorrow. There are numerous examples of God answering the prayers of his beloved children in the bible.
Has the Holy Spirit ever spoken to your heart with these words? “I have answered thy prayer.” When God says so, it’s already done! The word of the Lord gives us a wonderful example in Hezekiah’s prayer while sick. Even as he wept, the Lord was answering his prayer. God spoke to the prophet Isaiah as he was leaving the temple, turning him around to go give Hezekiah a word. “Turn again, and tell Hezekiah, the captain of my people, Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will heal thee: on the third day thou shalt go up unto the house of the LORD.” 1 Kings 20:5.
God knows every circumstance, thought, need, or desire that we have. As someone once said, “Prayer is the key, and faith unlocks the door!” We only need to come boldly before His Throne of grace and ask. Sometimes He answers yes, sometimes no, or even wait. But know this… our tears are only temporary. Just as He did for Hezekiah, He will meet us at the place where we need Him the most. God never fails, what He promises, He will faithfully deliver! “For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.” 2 Corinthians 1:20.
I still have a vivid memory of a personal prayer time with the Lord some years ago. As a young teacher, I taught at a new school. My classroom was extremely large, with a humongous closet and a long desk inside. I would return to my room for lunch and often went into that closet to pray. On leaving that position for a much-prayed-for promotion, I noticed, while cleaning the closet, that the large cardboard liner that lay on the desk where I set aside time for prayer for over five years, was covered in tear stains from the constant petitions of my heart poured out to the Lord. It reminded me of the admonition given to every born-again believer to run this Christian race: “Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer” (Romans 12:12).
The sacred little “prayer closet” at Crown Point Elementary was a true testimony to God’s faithfulness to provide, protect, comfort, heal, and guide me day by day. Praise be to God for many, many victories won! Psalm 34:4 states, “I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered from all my fears.” What an awesome God we serve… He will always answer the prayers of His children!
My friends, let us give thanks to God for answered prayer on yesterday, today, and yes, even forever more! He is faithful and true, we can fully rely on His word! “And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.” 1 John 5:14-15.
No matter what you face, stand strong in faith, trusting in God’s promises. He will provide, protect, and guide you—His blessings of peace and comfort be with you now and always as you continue to call on Him in prayer!
