Lord, Keep Me Day by Day!

Lord, Keep Me Day by Day!

“So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.” Psalm 90:12.

Goals and aspirations change as we grow older, my parents would say, that we would learn to understand things better with just a few more risings and settings of the sun. Youthful dreams are more aligned with the success of an idealistic job, home, the right partner, etc., but, true enough, as we grow older, we are more attuned to seek goals that are geared towards the simplistic things in life. Time teaches us … that things do come and go. “So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.” Psalm 90:12.

It’s real and healthy to achieve goals; however, our emphasis should be on knowing where those goals lead, and how we live so that the things we acquire and do reflect not who I am, but whose I am.

A crucial question arises: “Is Heaven your home, and will you leave footprints on the sands of time that will help some lost brother or sister along the way?” Forest E. Witcraft, a teacher and scholar, once wrote from an educator’s point of view: “A hundred years from now it will not matter what my bank account was, the sort of house I lived in, or the kind of car I drove… but the world may be different because I was important in the life of a child.”

The message is clear: what matters most is not what we own, but how we live. As God’s beloved children, called by His grace, we should use every opportunity God gives to guide others to Christ. The Apostle Paul wrote in Philippians 2:13, “For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.”

Every born-again believer is empowered by the Holy Ghost to fulfill God’s divine will: “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.”  My friends, it is Christ who lives in us to do His perfect will, and He helps us run this Christian race so that He gets all the glory!

Let us pray for the Lord to keep us day by day, guiding us in a pure and perfect way!

Lord, keep my day by day,

In a pure and perfect way.

I want to live, I want to live on

In a building not made by hand.

Lord, keep my body strong

So that I can do no wrong.

Lord, give me grace just to run this Christian race

To a building not made by hand.

May God’s grace and peace be with you all.
