Waiting on God

Waiting on God

“I wait for the Lord, my soul doth wait, and in His word do I hope. Psalm 130:5.

One writer puts the process of waiting for an answer from God in these words: “Worry is a conversation you have with yourself about things you cannot change. Prayer is a conversation you have with God about the things He can change.” This sets the tone for how we approach waiting, shifting our focus from worry to prayerful trust.

Waiting on God can feel like standing still while everything in you screams to move. You wrestle with the “why not now,” and the urge to take control intensifies. Be careful—the tendency to rush ahead of God often leaves regrets when grace is lovingly protecting us. As scripture reminds: “And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.” 2 Corinthians 12:9.

This waiting period is when God’s grace steps in, giving us the strength to deepen our faith, enabling us to hold on and wait for an answer to our prayer. Psalm 40:1 states: “I waited patiently for the Lord; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.” My friends, God hears the cries of our hearts, and He will answer!

Yes, waiting when you want an answer now is hard, but it takes courage to trust God’s timing, especially when HIs answers seem delayed or the path unclear. Yet the Lord’s word reminds us that the child of God does not wait in hopelessness; waiting becomes a purposeful, active season of trusting God’s promises: I wait for the Lord, my soul doth wait, and in His word do I hope. Psalm 130:5.”

The beautiful thing about waiting is that God never fails! We can always rest in His promises. So, if you have asked the Lord for anything today and it is aligned with His will, stand firm in your faith, and you will receive what you’ve asked for! 1 John 5:14-15 gives us this promise: And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.”

Let us conclude with this sacred truth: waiting on God requires us to abide in Christ, our Savior. We can trust in His promise to never leave us, nor forsake us. Know that He is taking action behind the scenes, and through it all, He will work things out in the situation to benefit us and give Him the glory! “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28.

May you all be blessed and find strength.
