Have Thine Own Way, Lord

Have Thine Own Way, Lord

“But now, O LORD, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand”.

Deep down in the soul, in the spiritual, stillness is both required and necessary for a closer walk with our Almighty and Sovereign Lord. This spiritual stillness of the mind and heart allows God’s beloved children to hear His voice. In these quiet moments, we cannot help but acknowledge and reverence the presence and sovereignty of our Great and Almighty God. It is then that He lovingly speaks to our hearts and says: “Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.” Psalm 46.

Sometimes, when God speaks, His will can hurt, sting, or be unclear, but when He commands, we must follow where He leads. Isaiah 64:8 states: “But now, O LORD, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand”.

The obedient heart responds: “Have Thine own way, Lord.” Even when the way is unclear and the journey gets tedious, we are assured that the love of God will never lead us beyond what we are able to bear. His grace is truly sufficient, and He has promised: “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” Jeremiah 29:11.

The Apostle Paul reminds us of the goodness and faithfulness of God in these words: “For we know that all things work for the good of those who love the Lord, and are the called according to His purposes.” Romans 8:38. My friends, we walk by faith and not by sight, and praise God, our hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness—no matter what comes or goes, we stand on Christ, the solid rock!

What do we need to trust God with today? Is it our finances, health, relationships, or peace in the midst of a storm? May God help us to let go and let Him have His own way; He is able to do far beyond what our mere eyes can see! “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.” Ephesians 3:20-21.

May the peace of God keep you now and forever!
