Trust in the Lord

Trust in the Lord

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6.

When I was very young and about to leave for college, a pastor and close friend wrote Proverbs 3:5-6 on a note for me and encouraged me to keep its meaning close to my heart wherever I went. Even now, it remains one of my favorite verses. Whenever I feel down or worried, I’m reminded of God’s power and presence. In my heart, I hear these words: “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6.

Trust is the act of placing all your belief and hope in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of someone or something. Sometimes, life sends us down pathways that we have no idea how to walk. But we who believe and know that God is our sovereign Lord, trust in His truth, power, and faithfulness.

We are walking in perilous times. There are senseless and unexplained killings, with  numerous innocent victims, and loved ones left with heavy hearts. People often say that the poor get poorer, and the rich get richer. It is certainly evident in the inability of many to receive proper health care, food, and a decent place to live as a result of the continual rise in homelessness and inflation, and the list does not end there… but we have hope in God!

Even though there are many who have no fear of God and no regard for life, let us keep it in perspective and remember that they are influenced by the enemy of our souls and his demonic forces. He readily uses those who seek their own selfish desires for whatever their current “fix” is for drugs, sex, money, political gain, etc., that comes at any cost. Truly, where there is no God, there is no peace. We are in a spiritual warfare, and we know that where the human spirit fails, the Holy Spirit must prevail.

Prayer truly does change things, my friends. It is imperative that every child of God bombard Heaven’s door without ceasing. John 14:27 reminds us, “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”

Our trust must lie in the Alpha and the Omega, the One who is omniscient, omnipotent, and omnipresent. He has the ultimate plan for this world; please know that He is not sleeping and surely not dead! We can rely on His unconditional love to see us through whatever life sends our way. If we are to live in peace and hope in this life, we must trust in the Lord…for He alone  provides the protection, peace, and sense of civility that we need in this fallen world.

The scripture directs our attention to His omnipotence, which goes far beyond what we can even imagine. “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,” Ephesians 3:20.

So, let us rest in the assurance that God is able. Regardless of what we may face today or in the future, we can trust in Him. He is faithful and will come through every single time!

Blessings, peace, and protection for a great day ahead.
