Do You Trust Him?

Do You Trust Him?

“Preserve me, O God: for in thee do I put my trust.” Psalm 16:1

We all face many decisions in life. Some are easy, and some are not. We must settle in our hearts one important fact, especially when the going gets rough, and surely it will… is God trustworthy or not? Our answer shapes our faith and the extent to which we rely on His sovereignty and unconditional love.

God never said this journey would be easy. If we believe in Him, we must also trust in Him. If we waver in His trustworthiness, we must ask ourselves- what am I not trusting God with today? That is where our obedience breaks down. “Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)” Hebrews 10:23.

We are called to trust God even when we do not agree with or understand His will. Sometimes, we have to say, “I trust you, Lord, but this hurts and stings!” In the end, trusting God means giving Him our full surrender and choosing to trust Him above everything else. “In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me.” Psalm 56:4.

A promise is as good as the person who makes it. God is faithful, and His promises never fail. We can depend on Him for our peace, joy, and mental stability as we stay in His word. It is our guiding light and source of comfort throughout life. “Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust; cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee.” Psalm 143:8.

I recently heard a story about a man who needed to take a long trip, but the travel costs were high. He worked hard and saved until he could afford the journey. To prepare, he packed cheese crackers and a bottle of water for each meal. While other passengers ate in the captain’s dining room, he found a quiet spot below deck to eat his simple food.

During the trip, a crew member saw him eating his small snack alone. When asked why, the man said he could not afford the fancy meals with the other guests and had barely managed to pay for his ticket. The crew member was surprised and said, “Didn’t you know that the meals are included with your ticket?!”

My friends, sometimes we miss out on the blessings that God has already prepared for us. We allow fear, pride, and unbelief to cloud our trust in Him. But He is tried, true, and faithful to always provide all that we need!

The question is, do you trust Him?  “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” Hebrews 11:6.

Let’s keep holding on to our faith and stay committed to prayer. The Lord God Almighty is trustworthy because of who He is—the Alpha and Omega, our everything!
