Follow Where He Leads

Follow Where He Leads

“For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.: Romans 8:14

After forty days, providing the infallible proof that He was alive and risen from the grave, Jesus prepared for His ascension into Heaven, where even to this day, He sits on the right hand of the Father. Jesus, being omniscient and knowing the fear and anxiety in His disciples’ hearts about His departure, offered them comforting words of hope and peace, assuring them of His abiding presence. “And, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” Matthew 28:20b. His same words of comfort, hope, and peace remind us that we are never alone- we can still follow where He leads! “And, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” Matthew 28:20b.

Can you imagine the disciples’ sense of hopelessness and fear in those very moments as they stood on the Mount of Olives, watching- questions of uncertainty rising in their minds: who would lead them now, provide comfort, guidance, wisdom, and instructions in righteousness? And Jesus immediately provides the answer; He promised to send One who would be with them in the person of the Holy Ghost, another Comforter, guide, and keeper from the Father. “And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever.” John 14:16.

God’s promises never fail. On the day of Pentecost, the promise came, just as Jesus said it would. The disciples were all with one accord in one place, and suddenly it happened! “And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.” Acts 2:2-4.

My friends, the Holy Ghost indwells and guides every born-again believer along this life’s journey. He succors us and reminds us of “whose” we are when times get rough and almost unbearable. The 23rd Psalm states, “He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.” We can rest in the blessed assurance that the Holy Spirit is still ordering our steps, pointing us in the right directions, and comforting our souls!

Are you willing to follow where He leads, through His abiding presence? As God’s beloved children, we are safe in His everlasting arms; He is orchestrating every circumstance that we encounter. Even when we cannot see our way through, God is always working behind the scenes. When we choose to walk in His light by faith, we have the assurance of His amazing grace and love abiding with us forever. “For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.” Romans 8:14

May God grant us the peace that passeth all understanding, resting in His abiding presence, and give us strength to follow where He leads!
