How Great Thou Art

How Great Thou Art

“O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!” Psalm 8:9 (KJV)

There is a place way down deep in my soul, there the Holy Spirit dwells and reminds me that I am kept safe and secure by the Great I Am. All things move by His omnipotence and divine providence, and in Him I find rest and sweet peace that surpass all than I can humanly understanding. God is great and greatly to be praised…He is closer than the very air that we breathe. I too with the Psalmist must proclaim to all the world “O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!” Psalm 8:9.

Look around you, His majesty is evident in all creation; we need only to open our eyes to the wondrous handiwork of our Great and Almighty God. When we consider the heavens above; the planets, the stars, and the limitless universe, we only glimpse a partial view of how great God really is. These same elements, the moon, the stars are all the works of His fingers…and the earth that we live on is only a speck in it all.

This is a humbling thought as I consider the vastness of the heavens and the seas are all made and move by His power; then He considered us and made male and female in His image. How minute and powerless we are to these celestial and earthly elements; yet God loves, provides, sustains, and affords us the opportunity to be recipients of His amazing grace through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Everything within us must worship and praise our Creator. I am reminded of the song writer who penned the beloved hymn “How Great Thou Art;”

O Lord, my God, when I in awesome wonder

Consider all the worlds Thy Hands have made

I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder

Thy power throughout the universe displayed

Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee

How great Thou art, how great Thou art

God is worthy of all the honor, praise, and reverence due His name. Psalm 103:1 state: “Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.”  Everything within me, which includes my heart, soul, and mind, belongs to the Lord and to Him I give the glory and honor… What about you today?

God’s peace and love sustain and keep us all!
