Because The Lord is My Shepherd

Because The Lord is My Shepherd

“He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.” Psalm 23:2

Rev. Milton Brunson &The Thompson Community Singers released a song in 1986 entitled “Safe in His Arms.” It has many times over reminded me of the never-ending protection, love and provisions which come from our risen Savior; our all and all…El Shaddai -The Lord God Almighty!

Our provisions and protection have nothing to do with how much we have or do not have; it has all to do with the One who supplies all our needs. The word lovingly reminds us that “The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.” Psalm 24:1. He supplies all my needs, what about you this morning? I am assured by experience and faith in Our Father who art in heaven…that He will keep me safe in His arms.

Whether it is a physical, spiritual, mental, or financial need that challenges you today, remember God has always and will always provide for His beloved children. Regardless to what is going on in the world around us, we can look heavenward, and rest assured that He will take care of us. If we believe and acknowledge that by His hands, at the creation of the world, He flung the beautiful universe in the cosmos, then we can rest in assurance that He will take care of everything that we need.

David writes in Psalm 23:2 “He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.” The imagery is of a pasture of sheep, cared for by their shepherd, quietly feeding on vibrant green pastures and drinking from a silent stream, oppose to a rapid river that would frighten and possible overtake them. So it is with every born-again believer, God feeds us with bread from heaven to nourish our souls and allows us to rest in the peace and safety of the Holy Spirit’s comforting grace. So, take heart and rest in His word, ” I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.” Psalm 37:25.

This day, let us choose to rest in power and not pity as we encounter the circumstances of life. Walking in the empowerment of the Holy Spirit gives us the strength to do and face things beyond our greatest imagination. 1 John 4:4 tells us “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.” There is no failure in God.

We must stand firm in our faith, clinging to the Great Shepherd of the Sheep, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. May we humbly raise our voices in praise and thanks because He is the only Potentate, and all of His beloved children can proclaim “The Lord is my Shepherd!”

Because the Lord is my shepherd

I have everything I need

He lets me rest in the meadow’s grass

And He leads me beside the quiet streams

He restores my failing health

And He helps me to do what honors Him the most

That’s why I’m safe, that’s why I’m safe

That’s why I’m safe, safe in His arms

What a blessing to know in the midst of it all…He hides us safe in His arms!
