O Give Thanks unto the Lord!

O Give Thanks unto the Lord!

O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever. Psalm 107:1.

God is good, period. Goodness is a description of His very essence and nature; and by His unconditional love, we are the recipients of His goodness and mercy. James 1:17 state “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.”

As David penned the words of Psalm 107, he begins with the expression “O” it intensifies the exaltation of God as the source of all that is good…and the One whom we should give our thanks and praise! O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever. Psalm 107:1.

When I think of the goodness of God, praise and thanksgiving erupts from my very soul; “Many, O Lord my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.” Mere words are not enough to express how good God is.

God’s goodness to all mankind, extends redemption through the precious blood of Jesus and with His redeeming blood we have eternal life and spiritual blessings beyond our greatest imaginations… “Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!”  Psalm 107:8.

We have so much to be thankful for, even in the roughest times of life, when we start praising and giving thanks…the light of God lifts our very souls; many of David’s writings in the Psalm were written during times of distress in seeking refuge from the Lord; and yet He wrote “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.” in Psalm 23:1 and Psalm 107:2 state “Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy;” Psalm 107:2.

Every breath that we take, it is time to say “thank-you, Jesus!” It may sound clique’ to some, but it is true, I woke up this morning in my right mind, sight to see, the ability to move and physically take care of myself, by His amazing grace! These are blessings we take for granted and are denied this morning to many; to God belongs the glory for He alone is worthy of all our thanksgiving and praise…may our hearts remain grateful forever!

Thank you, Lord!
