Letting Go

Letting Go

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” Jeremiah 29:11

It is not easy to let go of things that we hold near and dear to our hearts or even beliefs that we have held on for years. Letting go can take a number of meanings. The unsaved person would find it to mean a free ticket to just live life anyway the wind blows or follow the direction of whatever comes up next; to the child of God, it has a whole different connotation. It means releasing our wills into the sovereign will of God.

We all have dreams and plans for the future, not only for ourselves but for our loved ones. It is just natural to try and align our lives so that we accomplish those dreams and aspirations; this is not unreasonable, certainly it is wise to have a purpose in life, hopefully to leave footprints someday on the sands of time. But it is imperative however, that we seek that purpose from God.

If we believe and know that God has created us, then we know that He already has a set purpose for our lives. All of the hopes, dreams, and fears that we hold on to must be released into the hands of the One who loves us and knows what is best for us.

Yes, we set plans for the future, but God holds the future. We must depend on Him and submit to His leading. Our times are not held in our own hands, and we must reverence that He is God. “For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.” James 4:15.

It is logical to fear the unknown, but faith is not logical; if what we are hoping for can be seen then it is not faith. “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Hebrews 11:1. God is omniscient and knows exactly where we are, what we need and where we are headed in this life and in the life to come. Therefore, it is wise to let go and let Him lead the way. Psalm 119:133 states “Order my steps in thy word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me.”

Above all things, He is faithful and true, Jeremiah 29:11 assures us of His loving guidance in our lives “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” Jeremiah 29:11. May we learn to lean on His amazing grace, and to release all our cares over to His providential care.

God loves us so much that He gave His only begotten Son, Jesus the Christ, who died for us and prepared a place that we may live with Him forever; if He has secured eternity for whosoever believe in Him, then won’t He faithfully manage everything that we are facing right now in this present existence? Yes, He will!

Whatever it is that God may be leading us to let go in our lives,…let us humble ourselves in submission; there is absolutely nothing that we release in the Master’s hands, that He doesn’t increase even the more… “prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.” God is faithful, are you willing to let go and prove Him in every area of your life?

For with God nothing shall be impossible. “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.” Ephesians 3:20-31.

God blessings and peace be with us all.
