The King of Glory

The King of Glory

“And when ye saw that Nahash the king of the children of Ammon came against you, ye said unto me, Nay; but a king shall reign over us: when the Lord your God was your king.” 1 Samuel 12:12

Have you ever noticed those who must have everything someone else has? There are just some people like that, they think the grass is always greener on the other side, regardless to what they already possess! The Israelites were no exception; when they compared themselves to the other nations, they felt as if they were missing out…they needed a king like everyone else! And when ye saw that Nahash the king of the children of Ammon came against you, ye said unto me, Nay; but a king shall reign over us: when the Lord your God was your king. 1 Samuel 12:12.

So, what was wrong with this desire for a king, everyone else did have someone who lead them in battle, who looked the part of a strong, mighty warrior and leader. These nations seem to have it all, and the Israelites were always in the minority when it came to numbers, and weaponry; But oh, how soon we forget…even though it appeared they were always in the minority…the Lord, their Divine Leader fought every battle and they were victorious, they lacked for nothing, they served the One true and living God; He owns the world and all that is in it! “And Samuel said unto the people, It is the Lord that advanced Moses and Aaron, and that brought your fathers up out of the land of Egypt.” 1 Samuel 12:6.

Unfortunately, as God beloved children, we sometimes desire to have things our own way as well; we want a “king” that we can see, touch, and feel. But the bible teaches us in 2 Corinthians 5:7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:) and how did that workout for the children of Israel back then? The eighth chapter of 1 Samuel list a whole line of evil consequences that would befall them because of their chosen king…and concludes in 1 Samuel 8:18 “And ye shall cry out in that day because of your king which ye shall have chosen you; and the Lord will not hear you in that day.” My mother use to say, be careful what you wish for…one day it just may make you cry!

My friends, every born-again believer already has a king…and His name is King Jesus! He loves us, fights our battles, and gives us all that we need, His amazing grace sustains and guides us in the midst of all life’s difficulties. He is omnipotent and there is nobody and nothing greater. . . Our Heavenly Father appointed Him King of Kings and Lord of Lord forever! Psalm 2:6-7 state “Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion. I will declare the decree: the Lord hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.”

There is absolutely nothing that we can ever need or any battles that we must overcome that our Almighty God will not bring us through victoriously! So, today I ask you…what seems insurmountable for you-are you seeking an earthly king to fight your battles? Just reach back and pull out your faith reports…God never fails, … He is our King of glory! “Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle.” Psalm 24:8. “All hail King Jesus!”

All hail King Jesus
All hail Emmanuel
King of Kings
Lord of Lords
Bright Morning Star
And throughout eternity
I’ll sing Your Praises
And I’ll reign with You throughout eternity.

God’s blessings of peace and love be with you always!
