Who’s on Center-Stage?

Who’s on Center-Stage?

“Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil.  It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.” Proverbs 3:7-8

In my mind’s eye I can still hear some of the hilarious sayings my father or mother would use to get a point across . . . one of those when my siblings and I were being disciplined was – “you’re getting a little too big for your britches aren’t you!” Lol, I can laugh now, but you better believe there was nothing comical in their tonality!

Sometimes God reminds us that we are getting a little too big for our britches or beside our self with pride. Proverbs 3:7-8 state “Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil. It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.”

The enemy of our souls is very subtle and cunning, he knows just how to sneak into our thoughts and heighten in us a sense of praiseworthiness for a good deed, or achievement in ministry, work or another arena in life; his ultimate goal is to take our praise and worship off God and replace it with self-centeredness.

We must adhere to the Word of God, which admonishes us to “Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.” Philippians 2:3-4

Stay focused, Satan and is demonic forces are constantly sending subliminal messages just how good we are at something, or how we really should receive recognition for helping in some manner…he plants landmines called selfish attitudes and pride along our pathway.

But praise be to God, we have our divine Comforter who lives within…guiding, correcting and lovingly pointing us in the right direction. “Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.” John 16:13.

A humble and devoted heart recognizes who has center-stage…it is to our Almighty and Sovereign God that all the glory belongs; we are unable to survive one second without the very air that God gives us to breathe. Therefore, whatever we do or achieve is only by His amazing grace.

Let us pray daily for the Holy Spirit to empower us to walk in God’s will, stay vigilant in the fight and boldly proclaim that all blessings flow from His great mercy and loving-kindness. “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.” 1 John 4:4.

Blessings and peace; stay on guard and give God the glory!
