Lily of the Valleys

Lily of the Valleys

“I am the rose of Sharon, and the lily of the valleys.” Solomon 2:1

I love the beauty of an arrangement arrayed with roses and exotic colors of various plants; it brings peace and calmness to my thoughts and soul. Two of the most beautiful flowers in the world are used as a metaphor for our blessed Savior. Solomon 2:1 state “I am the rose of Sharon, and the lily of the valleys.”

The rose is said to be the most excellent of flowers in beauty and smell; it allures the senses and is beautiful to look upon. The lily towers over all the other plants, but lowers it head; it is pristine, white, and houses seven grains of seed that are gold, therefore exceeds others in fruitfulness and the ability to multiply; the distilled water from this lovely plant can be used for medicinal purposes.

Our Savior is the most excellent of all, He draws or allures the souls of those that love, and long after Him: the whiteness of the lily denotes purity, which is inherent of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ; He is holiness itself, His glory is infinite, within and without, in every way glorious; and the perfection of beauty. As with the low posture of the lily, He humbled Himself for our sakes, “But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:” Philippians 2:7.

He is exceedingly fruitful from His root; innumerable souls are drawn to Him. The distilled water derived from the lily, cannot compare to the life- giving water that comes from above “But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.” John 4:14.

And just like the lily can be used for medicine…Jesus is our Jehovah Rophi… Almighty healer of our body, mind and soul “And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.” Revelation 22:1-2.

Scripture gives us this wonderful reminder that Jesus is all together lovely.  “I am the rose of Sharon, and the lily of the valleys.” Song of Solomon 2:1.  My friends, His unconditional love is inexpressible… praise God He is our protection, our all and all.

Whatever you need today, He will provide; run to the foot of the cross, there you will find healing for your body, grace for your soul, and joy in times of sorrow… there is nothing and no one who can do me like Jesus, what about you -there really is a Lily in the Valley….bright as the Morning Star!

God blessings and grace to us all.
