Anxious Concerns!

Anxious Concerns!

“Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?”

A dear friend of mine set up a hummingbird feeder this summer. As I watched the video of the tiny bird perched to feed, it blessed my heart to recognize how God lovingly provides for all His creation. These small birds weight no more than a nickel, cannot walk, or hop, have no sense of smell…but can fly solo for over five hundred miles, have exceptional color vision; and are the only birds that fly backwards…can you imagine the insurmountable dangers that these small defenseless creatures face just trying to survive- but the small seemingly defenseless bird had no care in the world as it fed and made humming sounds.

What about us as we face the problems of life-are we encumbered with anxious care and concerns today; wondering-how we will receive provisions, healing, mental peace, or spiritual insight? God always gives the answer my friends…the example of the small bird is evident to us that God will take care of all that we need. “Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?” Matthew 6:26.

It is often said, if you are going to worry, why pray? But I suffice it to say that we pray because it is human nature to feel emotions of fear, anxiety, and uneasiness about the future at times in our lives…prayer is our first defense against the doubt that the enemy places in our hearts of defeatism… I also remember the lines of an old familiar hymn that says: What a friend we have in Jesus All our sins and griefs to bear What a privilege to carry Everything to God in prayer!

God is sovereign and provides, protects, and guides us along this journey of life…we can rest in His loving kindness and grace to sustain us in and through whatever we are dealing with; we are His creation and praise God the sheep of His pasture…He is the Great Shepherd of the sheep, who laid down His very life for us…won’t He provide and protect us like that small bird? Yes, He will! “Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?” Matthew 6:30.

So, let go of the anxious cares and concerns of your heart…release them at the foot of the cross; trusting in the Lord today…and just like that tiny bird makes the humming sounds as it feeds…let us praise God today because He is Almighty and omnipotent…the One true and living God who loves us and will never leave us nor forsake us…we can depend on God!

God’s blessings and peace, remember…God will take care of you!
