Facing Obstacles, Trusting God

Facing Obstacles, Trusting God

“And as soon as we had heard these things, our hearts did melt, neither did there remain any more courage in any man, because of you: for the LORD your God, he is God in heaven above, and in earth beneath.” Joshua 2:11

In the biblical account of Joshua chapter two, we find Joshua sending spies to access the situation in Jericho. This would be the Israelites first battle in conquering the Promise Land. The spies received help from a harlot name Rahab…God always protects and keeps His own; His providential care is always with us; we are never in this fight all by ourselves!

However, amazingly so, the enemies in Jericho hearts had already been “melted” by God. Of course, this was unknown to Joshua. It is noteworthy to keep in mind that our sovereign God is in control, even behind the scenes; we may not think that anything is happening in our current circumstances, but He is consistently working things out in our favor according to His will.

His divine intervention is not dependent on what we do or not do…the people in Jericho had heard of the Israelites God and the things that He had done to bring them out of Egypt. Their hearts melted with fear! The battle was already won before it ever got started!

We too must recognize that God has already given us the victory over the obstacles we face. It is essential that we bring to remembrance the unfailing faithfulness of God in every situation; this will certainly give us assurance of His deliverance just when we need it the most.

Let us trust and have faith in God’s sovereignty and omniscience; walking in hope, peace, and love…the battle is not ours; it is the Lord’s… He will come through…His faithful word is just as true today for us as it was more than two thousand years ago “And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the LORD unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God’s.” 2 Chronicles 20:15.

God amazing grace and love be with us all now and forever.
