God Mends the Broken Hearted

God Mends the Broken Hearted

“The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.” Psalms 34:18

Trials and afflictions are a part of this sinful world and as long as we are living on this side of heaven, we will experience trials and tribulations. There are some things that crush the spirit and leave us broken hearted. Does that mean God loves us any less…oh no my friends, that is just when He is closer than we could ever imagine. Psalm 34:18 state “The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.”

The Lord our God is Almighty, He knows the very hairs that are on our heads, and He loves us so much that He stretched His hands wide one Friday afternoon and died on that old, rugged cross… so won’t He also heal our brokenness? It is to Him that we must look in suffering and pain that goes beyond our human strength to bear; The old gospel hymn states When the loads bear down so heavy, the weight is shown upon my brow. There’s a sweet relief in knowing, the Lord will make a way somehow.

Because the Lord is our Shepherd, we are always under His watchful care and divine protection. Psalm 139:7-10 is a great source of comfort to the heart of those who love the Lord and are sheep of His pasture… “Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.” God’s right hand… a metaphor for His compassion and love, holds us forever!

Are you there today- broken hearted and leaning on His everlasting arms? God will take care of you . . . rest in the comfort of knowing, that even when we do not understand His purposes; He is preparing us for something greater. “For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.” 1 Corinthians 13:12.

God love, peace, comfort and protective care be with you always.
