I Thank You Lord, for the Cross!

I Thank You Lord, for the Cross!

“But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.” Isaiah 53:5

As we focus so intently on the death, burial, and resurrection of our Savior, let us be reminded that sin made it impossible for us to live in the presence of our Holy, Righteous and our Almighty God; but I am grateful today that love clothes in human form, left His glory in Heaven and came down to earth and died on the cross for us one Friday afternoon. Isaiah prophesied “But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.” Isaiah 53:5.

Love that is beyond our very comprehension; God’s only begotten Son, sinless and perfect opened not His mouth as they scourged him, spat upon him, and accused Him of all manner of iniquity. But He came to die that we may live. His shed blood washed away every one of our sins and we now have the right to enter the presence of our precious and Almighty God!

All born-again believers can bear witness that our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, humbled Himself in obedience and He died and excruciating death on Calvary, what a loving and gracious Savior we have…He was the perfect sacrifice “For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:6-8.

Yes, there stood on a hill an old rugged cross…it was there that God’s dearest and best, was slain for us sinners…and I do not know about you, but I will cling to that the old rugged cross and one day exchange it for a crown. The precious drops of blood that Jesus shed on Calvary’s cross from the twelfth to the ninth hour on that Friday afternoon…will never lose its power!

And above it all. . . praise God, death could not keep Him in the grave, He got up early on that third day morning with all power in His hands and He deemed us worth it all! I thank you Lord, for the Cross... because out of love you paid the ultimate sacrifice for us all! “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16.

Let us all bless the Lord and give Him all the praise for the cross…today, tomorrow, and forever- for He alone is worthy…To God be the GLORY!
