Prove Me!

Prove Me!

“Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.” Malachi 3:10

There is a line from an old familiar hymn that says You can’t beat God’s giving no matter how you try.  When God blesses us, we are to in turn become a blessing to others. It goes along with the Pay it forward movement; the simplest way to define pay it forward is when someone does something for you, instead of paying that person back directly, you pass it on to another person instead.

In 2 Kings chapter four we find the account of the prophet Elisha blessing a barren Shunamite woman. On their first encounter, the woman perceived that he was a man of God. She spoke with her husband and continuously opened their home in hospitality to him. Elisha inquired of how he could possibly repay her for her kindness and found out that she was barren and desired to have a son.

God blessed this faithful and giving woman with a greatly desired son. However, many years later the son fell, hitting his head and died. The Shunamite woman exhibited great faith that day… in 2 Kings 4:23 she bids her husband to go seek the man of God “And he said, Wherefore wilt thou go to him to day? it is neither new moon, nor sabbath. And she said, It shall be well.”

Regardless of the fact that she had just laid her dead son on the bed, she sought to go to Elisha for help. Her confidence was in God’s ability to restore life, and God utilized Elisha to bring her son back to life.

My friends, where is your confidence?  God admonishes us to prove Him in our giving (time, talents, and treasures); and just as in the life of this Shunamite woman, He will do miraculous things when we are obedient to His word. Malachi 3:10 state “Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.”

There are many who have lost jobs, homes, and or may not even know where their next meal or bill payment will come, but I want to remind someone to keep the faith; God is omnipresent, omniscient, and praise God omnipotent…He will take care of you!

So, if you’re at the end of that proverbial rope and don’t know if or when the blessing will come…tie a knot, hold on, and starting praising God, He is making a way beyond your greatest imagination!. “Psalm 37:25 state “I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.”

Blessings and peace, prove God today…He is faithful to His word!
