Just One Touch!

Just One Touch!

“And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me.” Luke 8:46

Joy is the heart felt expression of knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and His resurrection power. It is this peace that puts a smile deep down in our hearts in the midst of chaotic situations…we know that our omnipotent and omniscient God is in control; oh the sweet peace in knowing that we only need to run to the foot of the cross and cast all our cares on Jesus and He will make everything alright; Psalm 46:1 states: “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”

Our physical bodies are only temporal, we can so readily see the overwhelming amount of sickness and death that plague the human condition throughout the entire world; but the word of the Lord gives us comfort in God’s faithfulness and power to heal and deliver. “Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all.” Psalm 34:19.

The account of the woman with the issue of blood in Luke chapter eight is evident of those who honestly seek Jesus in faith; we can and will be healed according to His divine will. Luke 8:46-48 states: “And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me. And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down before him, she declared unto him before all the people for what cause she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately.  And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace.”

Can you imagine the crowd following Jesus, and this woman came and just knew if she could just press through and touch the hem of His garment, she would be made whole. She didn’t have to have an extended conversation with the Lord… He did not need to see her…she just needed one touch!  My Lord, what a great testimony to her faith in God; do we exhibit that kind of fervent faith today?

If we seek Him, we will find Him. There is nobody who can do us like Jesus; just one touch of His garment is able to release His power to heal us physically, mentally and above all to heal our sin sick souls. The song writer stated it like this…He touched me and now I am no longer the same. Praise be to God!

The virtue that flows from Jesus exceeds anything this world can imagine- in fact it is everlasting. Ephesians 3:20 states “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,” My friends, the healing, peace and deliverance that God has in store for all His beloved children goes far beyond the physical and steps over into the spiritual realm where there is no end!

So, what is it that weighs heavy on your heart today- family, job, health, finances, and even the fear and anxiety of catastrophic occurrences? Call on the name of Jesus, just one touch of His garment will bring all the healing, peace and sustaining power that you need. “I sought the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.” Psalm 34:4.

“He Touched Me” is a familiar gospel song, in the 2nd stanza reads:

He touched me, O, He touched me,

And O, the joy that floods my soul.

Something happened, and now I know,

He touched me and made me whole.

There is power to break every chain in the name of Jesus!
