Peace, I Leave with You

Peace, I Leave with You

“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” John 14:27.

Everybody wants peace…I can hear the spiritual hymn being sung by the choir-“Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me.” and as much as we desire peace, the fact is, it does not begin with us! The old cliché’ tells the whole truth of the matter . . . “No Jesus, No Peace…Know Jesus, Know Peace!”

Peace begins with having a right relationship with God, which can only be achieved by faith in Jesus Christ our Lord… “Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” Romans 5:1.

My friends, Jesus is our peace. Ephesians 2:14 states “For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;” Because He lives…we can face tomorrow!

On the night of the Last Supper Jesus spoke with the disciples, preparing them for His departure…He left these comforting words as He was headed to face the cross-“Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” John 14:27.

The peace that the world offers is fleeting and materialistic…things, money, recognitions, successful endeavors…but Jesus gives that which is eternal and everlasting. “I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.

Christ dwelling in us through the power of the Holy Ghost gives us the power to run this Christian race-those old  imposters such as fear, inadequacy, and anxiety that can so violently grip the heart, are alleviated through His almighty power…yes, His peace goes far beyond all that we can humanly comprehend . . .  it steps in at just the right moment and comforts our very souls. “And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:7.

My friends, God never promised us a stress free and easy life, but He has promised to be with us always…in the midst of every trial and tribulation, rest in this assurance He is the anchor of our souls!

So, let not your heart be troubled…though the road may be mighty rough sometimes…Jesus is closer than the very air that we breathe. He will never leave us nor forsake us- find comfort in these words “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.’ John 16:33.

God’s Blessings of Peace and unspeakable joy to you all!

Blessings and Peace!
