A Fresh Start!

A Fresh Start!

“It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.”” Lamentations 3:22-23.

The prophet Jeremiah was known as the weeping prophet. He expressed his grief for the afflictions of his people during their exile and the ruin of Jerusalem. As he lamented the circumstances surrounding the Israelites, he recalled the unending mercy of God. His hope was renewed and he turned his eyes off of “self” and focused on God. Lamentations 3:21 states, “This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope”.

Israel’s sins had brought her to experience God’s chastisement. Jerusalem lay in ruin, and they were once again enslaved and oppressed by the enemy. All seemed hopeless. But God…because of His lovingkindness, in due time allowed the walls to be rebuilt under the prophet Nehemiah; and many of those who suffered in exile were able to return to their homeland. “It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.” Lamentations 3:22.

God’s rejection and chastisement of His children when we sin is never final or without just cause. “For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.” Hebrews 12:6. Just as Jeremiah, we too must take our eyes off of self and place our eyes on the unconditional love and divine purposes of God.

My friends, His love for us reaches beyond our ability to comprehend and His shed blood on Calvary’s Cross has covered all our sins past, present, and future; know that His way is always best…even in the toughest of times, a sense of  clarity and understanding escape us, let us humbly recall His faithful promises that ushers in a renewed hope. Psalm 30:5 reminds us “For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.”

There is no doubt about it, we will inevitably mess up on this walk of life; but every beloved child of God has the assurance of His faithfulness, great mercy, compassion, and amazing grace forever… and I am so glad about it, we get a fresh start, a clean slate every morning! ““They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:23.

“The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.” Lamentations 3:24. Wherever you maybe today, physically, spiritually, or mentally, know that your trials and tribulations are working for your good; just hold on to your faith and keep your  hope in God; taking advantage of the fresh new start that He has loving provided- remainin steadfast and walking in His strength and power! “Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the Lord unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts.” Zachariah 4:6.

God blessings and amazing grace keep us all!
