God’s Divine Purposes

God’s Divine Purposes

“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28

Thirty years ago, as a young first grade teacher at Crown Point Elementary, I would regular take my kids to lunch and return to my room. In my room was an exceptionally large walk-in closet…it became my quiet spot. I had a table inside and it was my place that I talked and laid my deepest concerns, needs, and desires before God. When I received the promotion to train for the district, I began to clean and pack; my attention was drawn to the cardboard overlay on my desk in my “quiet spot.” It was completely covered with tear stains…my thoughts were oh Lord…look how much I have cried over the years!

Age and experience have taught me that it was not about how much I cried at all, every tear drop was drawing me closer to God, teaching me to depend on His faithfulness and strengthening my intimate relationship with Him; and thirty years later, praise God He is still drawing me closer!

Romans 8:28 tells us “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”  God has a divine purpose for our lives. Every single circumstance has a purpose. It may not feel good, look good or even make rational sense to us; but when we seek to walk in the will of God, we can rest assured that all things are working out for our good and His glory.

If we honestly believe and trust with all our hearts that our Lord is the great, I AM, and orchestrates all things according to the divine counsel of His will, then we can hold to His promise in Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”

Our hope is anchored on the one who calmed the raging sea of Galilee with these words “Peace, be still!”, won’t He calm the raging seas in your life today? Oh yes, He has all power; so, whatever is going on right now, at this very moment, cling to His unchanging hands; He is nearer than the very air that we breathe and He is working all things out for our good.

Nothing and no one can thwart the divine purposes of God; our healing, restoration, salvation or just a closer walk with God is there for the asking…let us humbly bow at the foot of the cross “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” 1 Peter 5:7. Above all let us lift up holy hands and start giving God the glory… anything that we ask according to His will it is already done!

God’s blessings of peace and His amazing grace keep us throughout this day and always.
