A Bright Shining Light

A Bright Shining Light

“Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.” Matthew 5:15.

The word candle means any portable light, as a lamp, candle, lantern. Jesus’ message to the apostles in Matthew chapter five was to show them that the very reason they were enlightened was that others might also see the true light of the world and be benefited by it.

When people light a candle, they do not conceal the light, but place it where it may be seen. So, it is with the light of Christ that lives in His beloved children; it is given to us so that we may benefit others, not to be concealed but revealed to shed light on all who will see. “Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.” Matthew 5:15.

God’s beloved children are His beautiful workmanship; our lives should be bright lights shining for His glory. The experiences that we encounter of success, heartache and pain are all like the pieces of a patchwork quilt and each of the pieces have a story to tell that leads back to our Savior and His amazing grace. Therefore, we must be witnesses to the power and glory of Almighty God. “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 5:16.

What will you purpose in your heart to do today – will you share your story? There is someone who needs to hear your witness of God’s miraculous power to heal, forgive, strengthen, and deliver. It is impossible to be enlightened by the power and unconditional love of Almighty God and not tell the story.

The prophet Jeremiah proclaimed that he was not able to contain the word of God that lived deep down in His soul “Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name. But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay.” Jeremiah 20:9.

Let us be the light of hope to some lost, hurting, or despondent brother or sister in need today… God’s grace, His unmerited favor and everlasting mercy extends to whosoever will come to the foot of the cross. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16.

Every born-again believer is a laborer in the vineyard of our Lord…“Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.” Luke 10:2. There are many souls drowning or hurting that need to see Jesus, the Savior of the world; let us hasten to throughout the lifeline and save them today!

Throw out the lifeline across the dark wave;

There is a brother whom someone should save;

Somebody’s brother! Oh, who then will dare

To throw out the lifeline, his peril to share?

God blessing of peace and boldness in the Spirit to us all!
