A Father

A Father

Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you. And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.” 2 Corinthians 6:18.

How many of you are old enough to see your parents in yourself? If you’re still young…most likely not- but believe me the older you get the more you transform into your parents! During my morning walk- I noticed my shadow on the sidewalk just ahead of me- there was dad in his later years walking with a cane! I immediately smiled…shed a tear and my heart remembered the compassion and love that he displayed for all seven of his children and grandchildren… that only ceased when he transitioned from this life to eternity.

A father is defined in Webster as a male parent; a man who has begotten a child…but that doesn’t even began to cover the true meaning of the attributes of my father Elra Ward-he was my protector, teacher and encourager; someone who picked me up when I fell, brushed me off and let me try again; he was admired and much loved by us all- he was soft spoken…compassionate and above all god-fearing- and yet even he had limitations…but he taught me about  a Father who is eternal in the Heavens and will never leave us or forsake us-the lover and keeper of our souls!

God calls all Born-again believers His sons and daughters- He is Our Father! Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you. And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.” 2 Corinthians 6:17-18. And oh my friendsHe is our eternal protector, provider, teacher, disciplianrian- SAVIOR and yes…He never ceases to pick all of His beloved children up when we fall-placing our feet back on solid ground! He’s merciful and loving-just turn over in your Bible to Lamentations 3:22- 23: “It is of the Lord‘s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

If by chance you are one of the millions all over this world for whatever reason was raised without or no longer have an earthly father… all is not lost…because God shed His amazing grace on all men through His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, and whosoever accepts Jesus as Lord and Savior becomes adopted as His beloved children. “The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:” Romans 8:16. He is Our Father now and forever!

Jesus taught His disciples to pray in the Lord’s Prayer “After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.” Matthew 6:9. Our Father is the Great I Am…He will always provide, keep, and sustain us not only in this present existence and but one day will usher us into eternity with Him forever!

So, let us all look unto to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith… trusting in Our Father, for if we ask He will provide anything that we need!

Blessings and peace for a wonderful day!
