A Word from the Lord

A Word from the Lord

“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” Psalm 119:105

In the deep crevices of our hearts, when there appears to be a void or need for strength…the beloved child of God longs and seeks a Word from the Lord. By the grace of God, He sends the light of His Word to fulfill the need at just the right moment. Psalm 119:105 state “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”

Human companionship, encouragement and well wishes are all wonderful and much needed to walk this journey of life…God did not create us to be alone; but there is absolutely nothing like the peace, joy and strength that comes from the Word of God…especially when we need it the most. We can proclaim as David wrote in Psalm 119:114 “Thou art my hiding place and my shield: I hope in thy word.” Our Almighty and gracious God… meets us just where we are, providing the light of His Word to give us hope and protection now and forever; my friends no one can do me like Jesus!

So, when you find yourself needing a Word…cling to His unfailing truths. The Holy Spirit is the oil that burns as a bright lamp to lead us along the way…He corrects and provides direction in the way we should go… 2 Timothy 3:16 reminds us that “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:”

My father would often say that the Word of God is our prescription for life…we have all taken medication at some point in our lives…what my father was relaying is that God’s Word is the healing agent that we need now and forever.

The Apostle John brings it all home in John 1:1-4 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men.”

Jesus is the light of the world… the light that shines deep down in our souls and fills us like a river that overflows…refreshing, guiding, comforting, mere human understand is unable comprehend how He loves and cares for us. “He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.” John 7:38.

When your really cannot find solace anywhere else, and need a Word from the Lord, quietly pull out the greatest love letter every written; sixty-six books of living water that quenches the soul! To God be the glory for His unfailing love and peace no matter where you are and what is going on in your life…He provides and keeps us forever!

God abundant mercy and love keep us all.
