Are You Born-Again?

“Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.” John 3:5.

It is impossible to have a relationship with our Creator outside of the new birth. The Bible teaches in John 4:24 that “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” In the fourth chapter of John, we read the account of Jesus speaking to a Samaritan woman by a well. He asks her for a drink of water, and he invoked a conversation that opened her understanding of who He was and changed her life forever!

At first it took her by surprise because the Jews and Samaritans did not associate with one another; the Jews looked down on the Samaritans as impure in the faith; and this Jewish man, crossed all cultural and religious barriers and took the time to hold a life changing conversation with her. Christ taught her about divine things: He converted this woman, by opening her eyes to her own ignorance and sinfulness and need for salvation.

Christ offered her living water in contrast to the water of the well that she had been drank from for years, and by this He meant the Spirit that only He could give. “Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.” John 4:10.

The divine graces that come from the Holy Spirit brings comfort that satisfies our very souls; Galatians 5:22-23 states, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.” The temporal and physical things of this life can only provide short term satisfaction, but my God, when we receive the life-giving water of our Lord, we will never thirst again.

The scripture tells us that woman dropped her pots and ran to tell the story! “The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men, Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?” John 4:28-29. Are you running to tell the story of Christ everlasting water that quenches our very souls – are you telling the world that eternal life is free, given by God and experienced through the new birth? Jesus speaking to Nicodemus about eternal life in John 3:5 states “Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.”

My friends, there is no question that is more important in life than are you born-again? The new birth is a miraculous process that only God can do; He is our Creator and only He can recreate us; through His power He has reconciled humanity back to Him…the enmity or sin that separates us from God was washed away by the blood of Jesus at the cross… by His power we become new creatures in Christ!

Every born-again believer’s hope is Heaven and living eternally with our Savior; but those who are unbelievers and deny our Christ…damnation is real, and their souls will live tormented forever. “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” Revelation 21:8.

If you are unsaved, today is the day of salvation, no man knows the day or the hour that he will be called to leave this life, Jesus is knocking on the door of your heart right now at this very moment; let Him in…He desires to save you and give you life everlasting. “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.” 3:20.

God blessings of peace, love and joy be with you all!
