Bless the Lord, O my Soul!

Bless the Lord, O my Soul!

“Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.” Psalms 103:1

Way down deep in my sanctified soul is a line from an old gospel hymn that resonates in my heart. It denotes the feelings that touches our very core, our inward man. It is our duty that we bless our Almighty God. David wrote in Psalms 103:1 “Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.”

To bless God is to give praise, reverence, honor, exaltation, and magnify His name. Mere words cannot express the glory that He is due; but when we think of the goodness of the Lord . . . our hearts cannot help but overflow with the honor and adoration for His loving kindness towards us. There is absolutely no one that can do us like the Lord… we must never lose sight of His mercy towards us “Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;” Psalms 103:3-4. We serve the One true and living God who is great in mercy!

Wherever we are in life, when we belong to God and begin to think on His goodness, and marvelous works…the Holy Spirit will stir up His peace, healing, and comfort within our souls and we cannot help but proclaim how incredibly good God is. Jeremiah 20:9 state “Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name. But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was wearywith forbearing, and I could not stay.” Jeremiah was saying he could not hold his peace!

When I think of God’s amazing grace and all that He has done for me and how He alone plants my feet on solid ground…my heart cries out with thanksgiving and praise, and it is like fire shut up in my bones…Psalm 124:1 state, “If it had not been the Lord who was on our side,” Can you proclaim and give God the glory for all that He has brought you through up to this very moment?

Let us bless His Holy name forever… it is only by the grace of Almighty God that we stand, and rest assured that His goodness and mercy will follow us all the days of our lives. He is worthy to be praised!

Blessings and peace to all.
