Change is Inevitable

“In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.” 1 Corinthians 15:53

God has so graciously allowed us to see a brand-New Year, with it brings great expectations and hope of positive changes that will occur in 2022. George Washington Benson is an American guitarist, singer, and songwriter. He sung the song Everything Must Change. The premise of the song is that change naturally occurs in this life. Inevitably the young do become old and even the seasons change from winter to spring. Change is inevitable in our finite existence; we can either learn to adapt to it and see the possibilities that will help us to grow or refuse to evolve with the new things that we encounter and remain stagnant and unproductive.

As born-again believers we become new creatures in Christ, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” 2 Corinthians 5:17. The Holy Spirit guides us in all truth, and He produces fruit in us that makes the changes that teach us how to love and live with both God and our fellowman. “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.” Galatians 5:22-23.

God created time and change for our existence. He is constantly molding us into the spiritual image of His only begotten Son and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We have no idea what we will ultimately be in Christ. “For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.” 1 Corinthians 13:12. But the hope of every Christian is to live with God eternally. We cannot live with God in these finite bodies; Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 15:53 “In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.”

God has the ultimate plan for all those who trust and believe in Him. Therefore, we can walk this journey of life assured that He is working everything out for our good and His glory. Even though everything eventually changes . . . God is immutable; He is the same yesterday, today and forever more. So, in an ever-changing world we can hold on to the peace in knowing the one who holds our future will never change.

Let us embrace this new year and the changes that are ahead with hope and peace in our Great and Almighty God; keeping our hearts and minds saturated with prayer and in the word of God…knowing that He alone orders our steps. We have His faithful promise that no good thing will He withhold from those who walk upright; “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.” James 1:17.

God blessings and expect the best in this New Year!
