Cling to the Rock!

Cling to the Rock!

“Blessed is the man whose strength is in thee; in whose heart are the ways of them. Who passing through the valley of Baca make it a well; the rain also filleth the pools.” Psalm 84:5-6.

The Hebrew word “baca” is related to bakah, which means “to weep.” Elsewhere baka’ is translated as “mulberry tree” (2 Sam. 5:23). A mulberry tree is known as a weeping tree, but also one that brings forth delicious mulberries. “Blessed is the man whose strength is in thee; in whose heart are the ways of them. Who passing through the valley of Baca make it a well; the rain also filleth the pools.” Psalm 84:5-6.

In Psalm 84, David wrote about the valley of Baca as a low point of tears or weeping that can bring forth spiritual fruit; it is a source of encouragement to all of God’s beloved children when we are going through the valleys of life. We all experience valleys of sadness or tears, however, those of us who put our faith and trust in God will find hope, strength, and joy in the Lord. “For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly” Psalm 84: 11.

A familiar gospel hymn entitled “I Go to the Rock” sung by the late Whitney Houston asks the question, where do you go when the storms of life are raging…and the answer is I go to the rock of my salvation!

My friends, Jesus is the proverbial rock of ages that hides, secures, and keeps us in the midst of the storms we encounter in this life; Hallelujah…He maybe the stone that the builders rejected, but He is the rock of my salvation and the Savior of the world…so, when all around me is sinking sand…I go to the rock!

Problems are inevitable, but God never promised that every day would be sunshine, the rains will come… where are you running in those troubling times for assurance? I pray that when the storms of life overshadow your mind…that you find the sanctity and peace that we have in Christ our Solid Rock… the Word tells us that he provides all that we need and more. “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,” Ephesians 3:20.

My friends . . .we can cling to the Rock of our salvation,  knowing  that as long as we live, Jesus hears our cries, and He alone will secure and provide the strength and grace that we need to walk this journey of life!

Blessings and peace…hasten to the throne of God, He will keep you safe in His everlasting arms!
