Counsel of the Blessed Man

Counsel of the Blessed Man

“Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.” Psalm 1:1-2.

We all desire to be blessed and highly favored of the Lord. God’s word gives us a conditional clause in Psalm 1:1-2 “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.” If we follow the conditions that God has mandated, then we will receive the promise.

We must ask ourselves the question, how are we living-who are we allowing to influence our decisions and walk on this Christian journey? The word of God tells us that we are to avoid the counsel of the ungodly man, sinners, and contemptuous individuals; their hearts are not aligned in the will of God. This will only take the child of God off course and render us ineffective witnesses for the Lord. Proverbs 27:17 admonishes us “Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.” Let us seek to walk in unity with fellow believers who are encouragers, and lovers of God’s word.

May God’s grace help us to be faithful proclaimers of the gospel, immersing ourselves in His word each day that He gives us life and strength. Joshua 1:8 state “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.”  God’s promises are faithful and true…follow where He leads to live your best life now!
