Everything Must Change

Everything Must Change

“So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.” Psalm 90:12.

Each new day brings with it the hope and expectations of positive changes for the good of all mankind. George Washington Benson is an American guitarist, singer, and songwriter. He sung the song Everything Must Change. The premise of the song is that change naturally occurs in life. The young will eventually become old and even the seasons change from winter to spring. Change is inevitable in our finite existence; life is fleeting, and our focus should be on walking in the wisdom of God, making the best of everyday…seeking to do what is good and right in the sight of the Lord.  “So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.” Psalm 90:12.

The good news is that every born-again believer is a new creature in Christ, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” 2 Corinthians 5:17. The Holy Spirit guides us in all truth, and He produces fruit in us that makes the changes that teach us how to love and live with God and our fellowman. “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.” Galatians 5:22-23.

God created time and change for our existence. He is constantly molding us into the spiritual image of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We have no idea what we will ultimately become “For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.” 1 Corinthians 13:12.

But the hope of every Christian is to one day live with God eternally. God has the ultimate plan for this world; but all those who trust and believe in Him, can walk this journey of life with the assurance that He is working everything out for our good and His glory. “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28.

And yes, everything in this finite existence will change; but know this…God is immutable; He is the same yesterday, today and forever more. So, in an ever-changing world we can hold on to the peace in knowing that the One who holds our future will never change. “For I am the Lord, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.” Malachi 3:6.

Let us embrace this new day and the changes that are ahead with hope and peace in our Great and Almighty God; keeping our hearts and minds saturated with prayer and in His Word…knowing that He alone orders our steps. We have His faithful promise that no good thing will He withhold from those who walk upright; “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.” James 1:17.

God blessings and always expect the best!
