Faith in Action

Faith in Action

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6.

The building is on fire, you make your way to the only open window thirty to forty feet high…but fortunately, you see the fireman and the net below…he hollers jump, even with some hesitation you know there is a safety net to catch you and capable trained firemen waiting below to rescue you…so you jump; but what happens when the tables are turned…somehow through the smoke and fire you make your way to the window, your visibility is absolutely zero …but you hear a small still voice that says, “JUMP…I AM your safety net!”

At any given moment we encounter decisions and circumstances that are life threatening; those are the crucial moments that we must put our faith into action. The Apostle James wrote of faith producing holy fruit or that true believing is not an act of the understanding only, but a work of the whole heart. “But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?” James 2:20.

Abraham by faith, prepared the sacrifice with his only son Isaac in obedience to God. “And they came to the place which God had told him of; and Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood.” Genesis 22:9. Abraham believed that God would provide a lamb for the sacrifice…he even told those who journeyed with him and Isaac up the mountain they would both come back down, “And Abraham said unto his young men, Abide ye here with the ass; and I and the lad will go yonder and worship, and come again to you.” Genesis 22:5.

Are you in the proverbial fire of life today… who will you trust-will you follow the still small voice that says jump?  Every child of God having experienced the faithfulness of His divine power…can trust in the Lord-He will direct us every single time! “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6.

So, my friends, even when the way seems darkest and there is absolutely no physical visibility to see our way out, let us remember these comforting words: “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” Psalm 46:1. We can rest assured that God is our safety net now and forever. “For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways” Psalms 91:11.

God blessings of protection and amazing grace be with us all.
