God is Sovereign Over Delays

“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28.

On September 11, 2001, more than three thousand people lost their lives in the attacks on the World Trade Center. Yet, some survived because they were late, delayed, laid off, or something else changed their routine that day. “In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” I Thessalonians 5:18.

Some attributed their survival to sheer luck, while others, who gave thanks to God for His divine providence and sovereignty, recognized that everything moves by the power of God. “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28.

Delays are usually unwelcome and can feel like obstacles, but in every delay, we are waiting on God in some way. Our schedules are in His hands. Haven’t you faced situations you couldn’t control? God is always working behind the scenes. While we wait, we learn to be humble and find peace in His comforting grace and power. “Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.” Psalm 27:14.

Remember, every delay has a lesson. God wants to teach us patience, endurance, forbearance, and stronger faith. He cares more about building our character than making sure everything goes according to our own plans. The word of the Lord reminds us that “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way.” Psalm 37:23.

The good news is that God loves us and knows what is best for each of us. “He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?” Romans 8:32.

The next time you find yourself stuck in traffic, facing a postponed surgery, or dealing with a cancelled interview, pause and remember that God is in control of every delay. Trust in His sovereignty and love, knowing He is always guiding you. But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31.

May God’s peace be with you all.
