He Hath Said!
God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? Or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?” Numbers 23:19
“Your word is your bond” is an old English phrase my father instilled in my heart. It means giving your word, your promise to someone, is as legally binding as a written contract. In modern urban slang, the phrase “word is bond” is rooted in the Black Oral Tradition and signifies the truth and integrity of a statement.
Let’s go to the greatest source known to man, the Word of the Lord. Scripture emphatically states that God is truth, He cannot lie, and when God says it, that settles it! “Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever.” (Psalm 119:160, KJV).
A familiar line from an old gospel song says, “I trust in God my Savior, the One who will never fail. He will never fail.” My friends, we can fully rely on God! “God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? Or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?” (Numbers 23:1, KJV).
Unlike humans, who are subject to failure, God is trustworthy and faithful. He will do what He says. (Hebrews 6:18, KJV) states: “That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us.”
Therefore, if He hath said, that settles it. We can come boldly before His throne, assured that He hears and always answers the cries of His children; He is faithful to His promises. Remember that the value of a promise is as good as the promiser. There is no other like God…He is the great I AM, the same yesterday, today, and forevermore- His Word is His BOND! “For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.” (2 Corinthians 1:20, KJV)
Let us hold to God’s unchanging hands in all things, assured that every word, every thought of God is faithful and true. If He has promised you anything today, and He has in His Word, you can depend on His faithfulness forever.
Let us pray, Dear Lord, please accept my praise and worship. Mold me and give me a clean heart to love you and my fellowman: You are the divine orchestrator of all things…and my life is held within your all-powerful hands. Help me to put my total trust in you now and forever! Amen.
May the unconditional love of God keep and sustain us forever.
