Help Me, O Lord!

Help Me, O Lord!

“I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, From whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD, Which made heaven and earth.” Psalm 121:1-2.

A cry for help comes from the depths of our heart…we need to see the way out-what’s next; but then faith kicks in and that sweet peace that surpasseth all understanding -abates our concerns and we silently resolve to trust in the Lord and His sovereignty knowing that He hears, He knows, He cares, and He is making a way out of no way- therefore we can say as the Psalmist “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, From whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD, Which made heaven and earth.” Psalm 121:1-2.

Yes, there are times that we do wonder, Lord, why so much pain…and then I recall His servant Job-who lost all that he had- even  knowing that his failing health may have led to death; these are the words that he yet spoke “Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him.” Job 13:15.

Get this…Yet will I trust in him – The word Hebrew word used here (יחל yâchal) means properly to wait, stay, delay; and it usually conveys the idea of waiting on someone with an expectation to receive the aid or help sought . . .  my friends, it means to hope-in the midst of it all, Job’s hope was in God!

The trials of life will certainly get us down…but we must resolve right through our heart aches, pain, uncertainty, and yes, anxiousness that we will hope in God- why? because we know that He is a just, a faithful, and merciful God; and He knows what’s best for us all- and this too shall pass!

Focus on this- because God is so faithful, and we can cling to His promise in Romans 8:28 “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” For we walk by faith, not by sight!

So, let us wait with patience; patience being defined as the ability to wait through circumstances that we have absolutely no control Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.” James 1:3-4.

God is doing a work in all of us, and He knows what we shall be one day when we stand completed before His Throne…He has greater things in-store! “But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.” Job 23:10.

Oh, my brothers and sisters, this day, let us take heart and remember that God is closer than the very air that we breathe…and He’s got it all in His hands-rest in the assurance that Help is on the way! “For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.” Psalm 30:5.

God blessings of peace and strength be with us all!
