Hope Maketh Not Ashamed

Hope Maketh Not Ashamed

“And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.” Romans 5:5

Hope is defined as cherishing a desire with anticipation: to want something to happen or be true. The likelihood of the desire coming true is based on the trustworthiness of the object in which the hope is dependent. The foundation  of our hope must be one that is sure and solid, vain hope is like playing the lottery, a one in a million chances to win. But the hope that every born-again believer has is built on the faith that we have in God’s amazing grace!

Our hope is tried and proven. Romans 5:3-5 state, “And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.” God’s faithfulness in and through every circumstance and trial teaches us to patiently wait on Him even in the midst of hardships and pain, because we know He will come through, why? Because by experience we are living witnesses that He has never failed and therein lives our Hope in the One who holds us safe and secure in His almighty hands!

The old hymn state my hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and His righteousness . . .  it is because of His unconditional love for us; not our love for Him…that we can stand in His grace with great expectation for His promises. God never fails!

Our Comforter, the Holy Ghost that lives in our hearts, enlightens, and assures us that our hope in God is secure, not just now but forever. The hope that lives in us will never disappoint or make us ashamed! Therefore, let us hold on to our hope in glory…Jesus is our light in the darkness and our way maker, we can hold to His unchanging hands.

On Christ the solid Rock I stand; all other ground is sinking sand . . .

When darkness hides His lovely face

I rest on His unchanging grace

In every high and stormy gale

My anchor holds within the veil

On Christ the solid Rock I stand

All other ground is sinking sand

All other ground is sinking sand
