How Great Thou Art!

How Great Thou Art!

“O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!” Psalm 8:9.

There is a place way down deep in my soul, there the Holy Spirit dwells and reminds me that I am kept safe and secure by the Great I Am. All things move by His omnipotence and divine providence, and in Him I find rest and sweet peace that surpass all that I can humanly understanding. God is great and greatly to be praised…He is closer than the very air that we breathe. I too with the Psalmist must proclaim to all the world “O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!” Psalm 8:9.

Look around you, His majesty is evident in all creation; we need only to open our eyes to the wondrous handiwork of our Great and Almighty God. When we consider the Heavens above, the planets, the stars, and the limitless universe, we can only glimpse a partial view of how great  and mighty God  is. . .  these same elements, the moon, the stars are all the handi-works of His fingers…and the earth that we live on- is only a speck in it all!

It humbles my every thought, to consider the vastness of just the the sea alone – have you ever wondered how is it that so much water from the ocean  can roll up to the shore, stop at a specific spot…and go back out again? Everything moves by the power of God!

And my friends on top of all that… He decided to make man…He created male and female in His own image for His divine purposes; we were created in human frailty, minute, and powerless, especially when compared to the celestial and earthly elements-but the Psalms give evidence of His love…“What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?” Psalm 8:4.

Someone wrote “Love lifted me! God paved the way from earth to Heaven for “whosoever will”  by the gift of His amazing grace  through Jesus Christ our Lord- yes…God is amazing…and we are His workmanship! For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16.

This is “good news!”  The cares and concerns of  this life that can so easily beset us –  don’t even compare to the splendor and majesty of our great and almighty God- there is none like Him…He is omnipotent, omnipresent, and omiscient!

David wrote these words to extol and honor God in 1 Chronicles chapter twenty-nine: “Thine, O LORD, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O LORD, and thou art exalted as head above all.” 1 Chronicles 29:11. Amen!

So, today meditate on these beautiful and awe  inspiring words that lifts the soul!

How Great Thou Art”

O Lord, my God, when I in awesome wonder

Consider all the worlds Thy Hands have made

I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder

Thy power throughout the universe displayed

Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee

How great Thou art, how great Thou art!

Hallelujah-God is GREAT and greatly to be praised!
