I Am!

I Am!

“And God said unto Moses, I Am That I Am: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I Am hath sent me unto you.” Exodus 3:14.

God, totally unexplainable, defines for us in two powerful words which proclaims His essence, I AM, revealing that He is the source of all reality, the All-Sufficient One who is eternal and self-existent. So, it is with humble submission that we must come emptied of self before His Throne of grace. Whatever the issue that burdens our hearts, knowing that with the Great I Am, nothing shall be impossible. 

The mind, heart, and soul of the faithful believer understand this eternal truth to be evident, but the human heart aches at the circumstances that go beyond what our weary eyes can see. The word of the Lord reminds us: (For we walk by faith, not by sight:) 2 Corinthians 5:7.

The songwriter wrote no truer words that soothe the heart: When peace, like a river, attendeth my way, When sorrows like sea billows roll; Whatever my lot, Thou hast taught me to say, It is well, it is well with my soul! It is right in the midst of those crucial moments of prayer, when we yearn for an answer, that the Holy Spirit comforts and gently reminds us that “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” Psalm 46:1.

A reminder that no matter how dark the path may seem, Emmanuel is with us, and is in direct control of the very things that we have no answer, no possible solutions. He bids us to come and rest in the knowledge of His power, protection, and peace-and that all is well! “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28.

Remember my friends, that faith undergirds the broken heart, pointing us to the innumerable times that God has come through! The times when our backs were literally against the wall, and God sent the answer, the change, the provision in a way that leaves no doubt that He has and always will make a way out of no way! “For with God nothing shall be impossible.” Luke 1:37.

Let us resolve, at this very moment, in the quiet, stillness of His presence that He is the Great I AM, the All-Sufficient One who has the very concerns of our hearts, lovingly under His providential care. “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” Psalm 91:1.

And, my friends… that is precisely when the hope and strength of the Almighty eases the soul and wipes away our tears. He alone gives evidence that all things, as tough as they may seem, have a greater purpose beyond what we can see. Trust in God, for there is a proverbial light at the end of the tunnel, called Jesus! “Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning. Psalm 30:5b. This too shall pass!
