I Go to The Rock!

I Go to The Rock!

“The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.” Psalm 18:2

When the Earth all around me is sinking sand, On Christ, the solid rock I stand; When I need a shelter, when I need a friend, I go to the rock. This familiar hymn reminds me that there is no other place that I would rather be than in the safety of the Lord. The Apostle Paul wrote of the power that all born-again believers have in these finite bodies; “But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.” 2 Corinthians 4:7.

It was for the sake of the ministry in sharing the gospel, that he and others suffered great peril; and yes, today, we are still facing onslaughts from our arch enemy Satan and his demonic forces for spreading the gospel and striving to be effective witnesses for the Lord – but take heart in knowing the we fight not for victory-but from victory, the battle is already won!

The Apostle Paul wrote these encouraging words “We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; Always bearing about in the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.” 2 Corinthians 4: 8-10. No matter how rough the road may be, we have hope in God…our rock of salvation, Jesus the Christ!

Remember that in a battle, soldiers do get wounded, so even though we endure challenges of loss, afflictions, and outright opposition to only name a few, God has given us the precious gift of the Holy Spirit who lives within our hearts; He comforts, keeps, protects, strengthens, and gives us the power to be overcomers in the midst of it all! “Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.” Romans 8:37.

My friends, we can go to the rock of our salvation at any time of day or night; He will come to our aide and provide all the strength and sinew that we need to fight this Christian battle… so let us stay on our knees before our Almighty and Great God…prayer is that proverbial bridge between panic and peace. He knows, He hears and is closer than the very air that we breathe!  Rest in this truth: “The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.” Psalm 18:2.

God blessings and stay encouraged…go to the Rock!
