I Look to You

I Look to You

“I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.” Psalm 121:1-2

There is a still place way deep down in the soul that the beloved child of God can run for refuge. There is a beautiful song entitled “I Look to You,” song by the late Whitney Houston. A line from the lyrics state “I look to you, when all my strength is gone, I look to you.” God is the source of our strength and peace when the troubles of our souls seem insurmountable. Psalm 121:1-2 state “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.”

Every child of God has peace in knowing that our steps are ordered by the Lord; He orchestrates the circumstances in our lives so that ultimately they lead to His glory and our good. We must pray to release our cares and concerns into the hands of the Lord, trusting in His wisdom and love to lead us along this life’s journey.

Yes…it is quite easy to travel along the path of life when things are great and going in our favor; but when the trials come and the rain falls, and the winds blow vehemently . . . we must hold on to the amazing grace of God…it is far greater than anything humanly possible-; that is when He steps in and carries us, succours us…even my God, through  the valley of the shadows of death… “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” Psalm 46:1.

The Lord God Almighty is the comforter to our hearts in loss, pain, and indecision. “Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.” 2 Corinthians 1:3-4.

There is absolutely nothing like the comforting peace that His word sheds in our souls, for every tear that falls, He ushers in His light and the assurance that we belong to Him, are never alone, and all is well. “They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed. This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.” Psalm 34:5-6.

My friends, God’s grace is sufficient . . . it is more than enough to lift us beyond anything that we will ever encounter; we are sustained and kept by His power, and praise God, that His strength enables us to live in joy and peace one day at time. So, if your head happen to be hung low today… hold your head up and look towards the hills; God is our light in the darkness and closer than the very air that we breathe!

Blessings and peace be with you all!
