I’ll Send a Hero

I’ll Send a Hero

“Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared for me.”  Hebrews 10:5

On July 4th, 2018, my son Reginald set out for a relaxing holiday with his family and friends at a nearby park in the Tampa Bay area. Little did he know that God would choose to use him for a little girl’s hero!

As he prepared for the day at the park, he and his friend caught sight of a very small child running towards the nearby creek… the water level was approximated at his waste or a little higher. He’s just about 6’4. The child kept running towards the water and went right in!  There were no others in the surrounding area accept my sister Harrietta watching in panic. Reginald and his friend by this time were running for the child, as they approached the creek, he yelled to his friend to STOP…and stated, “I got this!” He dashed in and quickly located the child, scooping her up and ran to the other side in safety.  After assuring that she was breathing and okay, he found the parent… thanking God that she was okay!

I can envision a couple of scenarios in this incident knowing my son, just like the loving dad that he is to his own two babies, he became the parent and did whatever it took to save that child’s life; and above all, the love of God that lives within him selflessly went into action for that child. To God belongs all the glory for having him just where He wanted him at the right time to save that little girl from drowning!

I can so readily see an analogy of God’s redemption for mankind through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Just as that small child needed saving from that creek…so does every man need to be saved from sin and redeemed back to our heavenly Father.  He sent the ultimate hero… Jesus Christ, God manifested in the flesh, only He could pay the price through His atoning blood on Calvary’s cross and give unto us eternal life.

Yes, we were all born in that proverbial creek, drowning and in need of a Savior… Romans 3:23 states “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” JESUS is the answer, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16

Our loving Father has provided the way for our eternal safety … Have you accepted His call to salvation? Revelation 3:20 states “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. “

Once we’ve accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior, no one can ever pluck us out of His hands! We’re safe in His arms. God’s love is unconditional and truly amazing…James Rowe wrote the following lyrics to the hymn Love Lifted Me in 1912:

I was sinking deep in sin, far from the peaceful shore,

Very deeply stained within, sinking to rise no more,

But the Master of the sea heard my despairing cry,

From the waters lifted me, now safe am I.

Refrain:

Love lifted me!

Love lifted me!

When nothing else could help,

Love lifted me!

God blessings of peace, love, and joy be with you all!
