Keep Your Focus on God!

Keep Your Focus on God!

If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. Colossians 3:1-2.”

Focus is defined as the center of interest or activity. What are you focused on the majority of the time- lots of things claim our attention and the truth is…where our mind resides…tends to control our thoughts and actions. Thankfully, for every beloved child of God, the more that we grow in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, we began to realize that this journey of life is not centered around “me” or what “I” want but on Jesus! If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. Colossians 3:1-2.

In the book of Joshua chapter three, we find the account of God’s command for the Israelites to keep a distance of 2,000 cubits between themselves and the Ark of the Covenant. That’s about a half a mile and the purpose was so that the people would always be able to see the ark up ahead as they traveled- the major focal point would be following the ark…in our spiritual lives, when we fill the spaces in our thoughts with all kinds of  distractions, it becomes very difficult and nearly impossible to see where the Lord is leading us. “Yet there shall be a space between you and it, about two thousand cubits by measure: come not near unto it, that ye may know the way by which ye must go: for ye have not passed this way heretofore.” Joshua 3:4

Today, let us resolve to allow the Lord to guide every aspect of our thoughts, actions, and speech; doing this will help make our day more enriched and fruitful, giving us the spiritual insight to ward off the attacks of that old devil… the arch-enemy of our souls, to steal our joy and make us non-effective in the building of God’s kingdom. “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” 1 Peter 5:8.

We must stay on guard, steadfast and unmovable… and the Holy Spirit will faithfully empower us for the journey ahead! the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.” John 14:26.

My friends, what are you allowing to occupy your mind…what’s just ahead in your center view- problems and the cares that can so easily weight us down, or the One who holds us safe in His arms of protection-are you willing to say with your whole heart, where He leads I will follow- God is faithful to every single promise and if He leads us…we can not stray!  “I have set the Lord always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.” Psalm 16:8.

Blessing, peace, and the love of God keep you all.
