Living a Blessed Life

Living a Blessed Life

Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.” Psalm 1:1-2.

I was recently asked by a young Christian, what was my advice for living a successful or blessed life. My answer was only a few words, not some profound lengthy discourse…but yet so powerful for every born-again believer as we run this Christian race-stay in the Word-Jesus is our life! Psalm 1:1-2 states: “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.”

The world defines being blessed as having great wealth, fame, and social status. Well, who would not want the bank account overflowing, a prestigious job in a fortune 500 company, and all the other things that this life can afford-this may sound good- but fortunately, that is not what constitute a blessed life- only following where Jesus leads grows, empowers and keeps us on the path of rigtheousness.“He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.” Psalm 23:3.

Acquiring all these worldly things will not give us the wisdom, knowledge or empowerment to run this Christian race, but the man who is blessed as defined by the word of the Lord, seeks after Jesus, walks in His statues day and night and desires to be used for His glory. Regardless to what this world affords us…all good things come from above…James 1:17 states “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.”

The intimate relationship that we have with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ is far beyond anything that this world can offer, in fact it is eternal! “But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:” Matthew 6:20

My friends, desire the sincere milk of the word and give your all to Jesus-trust in His amazing grace to do miraculously things in and through you… have confidence in God’s unfailing love, and mercy; regardless to what comes or goes as we travel this journey called life…He is faithful and true! “Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)” Hebrews 10:23.

Finally, all that I have God gave me, all that I know God has taught me and praise God that where I am nobody, but God Almighty has brought me safe thus far! “I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.” Psalm 37:25. God has and will always provide, protect, heal, and bless His beloved children. Jesus is God and He is the only way to living a blessed life!

God blessings and peace be with you always.
