 Peace

“I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.” Psalm 4:8.

Darkness is the absence of light… proverbial darkness and sorrows creep in unaware at times; it is like the storm that looms overhead, and the winds and the waves appear to be unpeaceable…it can come in forms of physical illness, financial devastation, mental anguish, spiritual unrest, and many other circumstances that places us in the valleys of life; but the child of God has peace amid any storm, because God is our all and all. “I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.” Psalm 4:8.

Over two thousand years ago, a great storm arose on the sea of Galilee as the disciples and Jesus were crossing to the other side. “And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full.” Mark 4:37. Can you imagine the plight of the disciples as the storm increased with no shelter or place to escape-the boat was full of water and drowning appeared to be imminent and their Master was quietly sleeping…their response in the perilous situation was to cry out to Jesus…He had to be awakened and made aware of the situation how could He possible lie asleep!  Mark 4:38 tells us “And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?”

What happened next is a wonderful testimony of God’s omnipotence, the Bible tells us “And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.” Mark 4:39. Is there anything to hard for God? Even the winds and the waves must obey His will!

Is there a storm that has arisen in your life today-the darkness looms overhead and it appears that there is no end in sight…know that there is nothing that can overtake the “boat” that has the Master of all Heaven and earth on board! Whatever it is…the sickness, the bills you are unable to pay, broken heartedness, fear, grief, and any other circumstance that we may face in this life…when Jesus simply says “Peace, be still!” all these things must obey His will.

Can you pull out your faith report today-how many times has Jesus pulled you up out of the valleys of life-can you tell the story that God is our light in darkness and way maker? “For with God nothing shall be impossible. Luke 1:37.” I am a living witness that all He has to say is “Peace, be still!” to the raging storms in our lives and they immediately cease…obeying His sovereign will!

My friends, Trust God in and through it all, even in the midnight hour we can depend on God to succor and to deliver us; He will provide for all that we need and give us the sweet peace to walk this journey of life in faith and not fear! “And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:7.

God blessings of peace and grace be with us all!
