Reflections from A Mother’s Heart

Reflections from A Mother’s Heart

“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6.
I thank God for the gift of a loving, no-nonsense, and baptized in the Holy Spirit mom. On July 14, 2019, my mom went home to be with the Lord. My parents would often say “you don’t miss your water until your well runs dry.” So true, there are many days that I miss that old lady; and of course, tears will fall but God’s comforting grace keeps me anchored in His sweet peace. Instead of sadness, I praise God every day for her and my father bringing me and my siblings up in a god-fearing home. Proverbs 22:6 admonishes parents to “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”
My heart lingers on the things that were instilled in me of noteworthy consideration about life in general and give meaning to having a closer walk with my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. So, once again, I would like to share words written by my mom, the late Dr. Dorothy Fields Ward, prayerfully, they will also give encouragement to your heart:
Reflections from A Mother’s Heart
(In Loving Memory of Mom)
“Most important lessons that I’ve learned until now…” Written by: Dr. Dorothy F. Ward – (transitioned from this life to eternal rest on July 14, 2019, at age 87)
1. Do not talk too much.
2. Learn to listen more.
3. Give all to Christ.
4, Love your neighbor as yourself.
5. Know that your children and their children have given their lives to Christ only.
6. Attend Church and help further the gospel.
7. Take nothing for granted.
8. Live life through the power of Christ.
9. Treasure the Lord first, family and friends second.
10. Do not allow education to control you.
11. Things are given to us from God to enjoy or use; wear them loosely.
12. Do not stress out!
13. Love Christ with all your soul, mind, and body.
14. I still do and will continually throughout my life.
I pray that at least one item that she listed above will help you to also seek a closer walk with our Savior; in the final analysis that is all that counts! “He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?” Micah 6:8.
God blessings and peace be with us all.
