Silver and Gold!

Silver and Gold!

“Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding. For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold.” Proverbs 3:13-14.

The familiar gospel song by Kirk Franklin & the Family entitled Silver and Gold shares the heartfelt truth that it is far worth anything in this world to have Jesus than riches untold…a Savior who holds my soul! “Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding. For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold.” Proverbs 3:13-14.

What is it that you are searching to obtain today-the bible admonishes us that the things of this world will one day fade away, but we should seek for those things that have eternal value in the Heavens; and that begins with knowing the Savior of the world-“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6.

The greatest acclamation is to be a child of the One who gives to us abundant life- Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God; I ask you again, what are you praying for, is it the perfect job, mate, home, car, family, financial plan to make this life easier, or more fulfilling- all of these things are well in their own perspective, but the only true fulfillment comes from the outpouring of unconditional love and tender mercies that comes from the Creator and Savior of our souls- the Great I AM, the Lord God Almighty. “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” Matthew 6:33.

My friends, as the song goes…no fame or fortune, nor riches untold… I’d rather have Jesus than silver and gold…the things of this world will fail to hold you in the midnight hour, when no help can be found…or heal your body when you’re racking with pain, comfort your heart when it is shattered to pieces, but Jesus is the lover and comforter of our souls…He is the One who makes us whole! “Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:” Matthew 6:19-20.

God blessings and peace to all!
